July 15, 2013 marked the day of our first Livelihood training of the year called “Technology Cooking Seminar on Banana Chips”. Participated by 35 Project Kasaligan beneficiaries, this training was conducted by Mr. Nestor Manuel, a recognized trainer of the Department of Trade and Industry, assisted by his wife, Mrs. Teresa Manuel. They demonstrated cooking crispy banana chips in 3 flavors: original, cheese and sweetened. This product has a shelf life of 6 months to 1 year. Mr. Manuel encouraged the mothers to plant banana trees as it helps reduce the effects of Global Warming. Though banana chips are not new in the market, this is the first time this training was conducted here in Talakag, Bukidnon. During the evaluation we were delighted to get positive responses from the participants as banana chips is very practical to make and is definitely a valuable source of income.
