Even though the Philippines gets 80-120 inches of rain annually, potable water during the 4 month dry season becomes extremely scarce and residents will many times use unsafe water and they will not use the simple precaution of boiling the water. We recognized this problem after Typhoon Pablo where the entire municipal water system was destroyed. We decided to drill a water well that will help hundreds of residents by providing them with potable water. A generous donation of $10,000 from the United Charitable Programs enabled us to drill the well. The well drilling was completed in April, 2013 and we laid the pipes to our goat operation, swine operation, gardens, office, and most importantly we provided a hydrant to the poor residents in the surrounding community. Also through a Rotary grant from RI District 5670, we were able to construct two water towers so that will provide water during power outages. The photos below depict our new water system.
